MUMBAI: Actress Nehal Shah and her friend Ashiq Sajid Hussain were arrested for the alleged possession and consumption of drugs. They were celebrating the actress' birthday at a hotel in Juhu, the police said.
The Santacruz police received a tip-off and raided the hotel room at around 3.30 AM and allegedly found them consuming charas.
Both tested positive in a medical test conducted at Cooper Hospital in Andheri west and were subsequently placed under arrest, police added.
Nehal, a Khar resident, and Ashiq, a Vakola resident, have been booked under the Narcotics Drugs Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for consumption of drugs.
“They were produced before a magistrate court and granted bail,” Dyaneshwar Ganore, Senior Police Inspector of Santacruz police station, said.
