The movie has already hit the big screens and garnered a massive amount of appreciation from the audience for firstly being a true story with not so much extra ‘masala’ and keeping things as authentic as possible, secondly, a not-so-much touched subject and unique storyline. Along with John Abraham, the movie also features Sadia Khateeb, Prapti Shukla, Sharib Hashmi, Jagjeet Sandhu and Ashwath Bhatt.
In an exclusive interview with Tellychakkar, it was pointed out how in majority of movies which are based on real life events and incidents, the names of people are changed along with certain other small details but that wasn’t the case in The Diplomat. When asked to Shivam Nair about it, he had a pretty interesting answer for it.
The director said, “The thing is when narrated the story, first thing was, it’s based on true story, I want to use real names so I go permission from them, Uzma Ahmed and JP Singh. Their approach was ki don’t deviate the story, don’t disturb the story, don’t unnecessarily dramatize this and that. Toh whatever the story they narrated to me, I tried to make it as true to that story, what they told me, I never jump into the unnecessary melodramatic scenes.”
