For the unversed, Ghanashyam Nayak has featured in 350 Hindi TV shows and 250 films (both in Hindi and Gujarati).

MUMBAI: On Wednesday, it came to light that veteran actor Ghanashyam Nayak who plays the role of Natwarlal Prabhashankar Undhaiwala aka Nattu Kaka in the popular sitcom - Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, is currently undergoing cancer treatment. His son Vikas Nayak had confirmed the report during an interaction with a leading daily, adding that his father is doing fine but has to undergo chemotherapy session once a month.

Now, after the news has touched his fans who have sent out prayers and wishes for the actor on social media, Nayak has spoken about his fond memories from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, which recently clocked 22 years. 

For the unversed, Nayak essayed the role of Vittal Kaka in the blockbuster film. 

In an interview with ETimes, Ghanashyam Nayak said that he has many fond memories from 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam'. He disclosed that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who was new to the industry at that time was very respectful and friendly with him while adding that he taught her Bhavai and she would even touch his feet sometimes. 

He said, "I have many fond memories from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Aishwarya Rai was new to the industry at that time and she was very respectful and friendly with me. I had taught her Bhawai in Gujarathi. She would even touch my feet sometimes out of respect. As I was very close to the director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the entire unit respected and loved me. I had helped Sanjay Leela Bhansali a lot during the making of the film. Salman Khan still addresses me as Vitthal Kaka. He has always met me warmly whenever he had come on the sets to promote his films on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. He hugs me whenever he meets me.".

Earlier, during an interaction with Dainik Bhaskar, Nayak had said that he was feeling fine while expressing that he is very positive and waiting to resume shoot for the show in Mumbai. He said, "I am feeling fine but yes, the treatment has also started again. Currently, the chemotherapy session is going on. After almost four months I shot a special scene in Daman last week and believe me I had a lot of fun there. As per the storyline at present, Natukaka is in his village and from there he makes a call to Jethalal. I went to Gujarat for a day just to shoot this call sequence. Episode one will be telecast in two days. Right now I am waiting to start shooting in Mumbai, I am very positive.".

So far, Ghanashyam Nayak has done 350 Hindi TV shows and  250 Hindi and Gujarati films.
