EXCLUSIVE! From being a scientist to a Creative Head for TV shows: Find out Afrose Azad’s journey in the entertainment industry

As a creative you have to see the aesthetic of the show. You have to be involved with every individual from actors to the writer, director, producer, channel and on set coordination with the team which involves hair, make up, set up, and to the edit.

MUMBAI: The world entertainment is not only limited to what you see on television.

Behind those beautiful faces and glitz and glamour of the world of actors is a lot of hardwork which is put in by an entire unit. One of the hardest working people on the set is the creative team constantly on their toes dealing with the script and narration. Today, we got in touch with an interesting personality who is associated with Star Bharat’s recently launched show Lakshmi Ghar Aayi and got to know more about her journey.

To start with, her name is Afrose Azad, who works as a Creative Head on Shakuntalam Film’s show. Let us find out more about her journey and how she found her heart growing fond in the entertainment industry!

Afrose, please tell us more about your journey in the industry…

Well talking about my journey, I was an army brat. I spent my whole life in an army campus! To phrase it correctly, I would say that it was from childhood that I found my heart growing fonder into finding earthworm movements into alphabetical formation. That would probably be a sneak peak of what my career as a Creative Head is today. I have been a studious and meritorious student so going by my educational qualification, I am a research scientist. I did my Masters in Science of Biotechnology. On professional front, have worked as a junior scientist.

I have passion for writing and other than that, I used to do lot of management and working on innovative ideas in school and college and participated in all co-curricular activities. During my working period as a junior scientist, I felt like doing something creative and innovative. So when I was free, one of my friend suggested I should apply for Creative work. With my management skills, creative abilities and educational background, I landed up doing my internship in a show Jee Le Zara for Sony TV with Rose Movies and Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon for Colors with Nautanki Films.

From there, I started my journey as Creative and worked for many shows namely, Mere Rang Mein Rangne Wali for Life Ok and Pyaar Ka Dard Meetha Meetha Pyara Pyara for Star plus with Rajshri productions, Shastri Sisters for Colors with Shakuntalam Telefilms, Crime petrol with IMRC Entertainment and Bhakton Ki Bhakti Mein Shakti with Miracle Workers for Life Ok. It was later that I worked for shows like Ishqbaaaz, Star Plus with Four Lions, then Jaana Na Dil Se Door with Beyond Dreams for Star Plus among plenty of other projects.

Currently, I am working on Lakshmi Ghar Aayi and it has been a great journey from labs to the sets!

I would like to say that my family's support and trust on my calibre has motivated me to move forward in the right direction, so I am grateful and thankful to my family. Also, I have worked with many amazing people, thankful from the bottom of my heart for their support and genuine appreciation.

How do you balance personal and professional life?

As a creative you have to be on the toes for 24/7. All the time being active and presentable with your feedback not only on stories, screenplay or dialogues but to execution at the ground level of the show. As a creative you have to see the aesthetic of the show. You have to be involved with every individual from actors to the writer, director, producer, channel and on set coordination with the team which involves hair, make up, set up, and to the edit.

It does become difficult to balance between personal and professional life but one should learn to take out the time. But I accept, being creative it's bit hard to take out time for yourself, but somehow I try to take out time for myself and for my family.

How do you deal with actor tantrums?

Generally people have this thought that there are actor's tantrums. There might be too but I must say, understanding matters in this case. When I am on board all the actors gel up so nicely and there is no such things called tantrums. I always tries to understand their outlook. May be that's why they all like me and trust my aspects.

Please give tips for new aspirants…

For the new aspirants, I will say trust your guts, follow your inner soul and value your decisions. Focus on what you want in your life and work continuously for the goal. Be determined you.

Well said Afrose! (Also Read: EXCLUSIVE: Crying is not weakness: Shruti Sharma on playing Kahani in Colors’ Namak Iskk Ka!)
