MUMBAI: Every now and then celebs fall prey to online trolls whether it is about their posts, their opinion, their photos or videos or simply about their outfits. Trolls have often called them out for their social media shares and even, celebrity moms have not been able to steer clear.
In fact, for years now, women have been sharing breastfeeding photos to destigmatize the phenomenon and how it is not to sexualise the image.
In the past, even actresses have been torchbearers and posted photos with their newborns only to break any stereotypes and empower other new moms. However, despite the message that it brings, netizens called them out and trolled them for posting the same.
From Neha Dhupia, Lisa Haydon to Shikha Singh, these divas posted beautiful photos of breastfeeding their babies but were trolled.
Neha Dhupia
Neha welcomed her baby girl Mehr in 2018. In April this year, she shared a throwback photo of breastfeeding her daughter. She wrote in her post, "Neha shared her breastfeeding photo on Instagram and wrote, "The journey of a new mum is something only she can understand. While we all hear the happy side, it is also a huge responsibility and emotionally draining. It's hard enough to be a mum and do all that there is to do. The last thing we need is to be questioned, mocked and worst of all trolled. I went through the same beats and I know how hard it is.".
A netizen asked Neha to post her breastfeeding video. However, another netizen defended Neha by writing, "I can see a picture of your mom/ grandmom on your page. Please ask her. She will show you.".
Neha thanked the netizen who defended her and shared a screenshot of the same on her page.
Lisa Haydon
Lisa Haydon had welcomed her third child, a daughter this year. She had earlier posted a photo of breastfeeding her son Zack.
However, she was trolled for posting a photo as some called it an attention-seeking move, while others tried to sexualise it.
Reacting to it, Lisa told news agency IANS, "I certainly felt uncomfortable at times when I was asked if I was still breastfeeding my baby and it had only been four months. Some people told me I am not a cow, my baby should not feed off me and there were many things that made.".

Shikha Singh
Just recently, Kumkum Bhagya actress Shikha Singh had shared a photo of breastfeeding her baby and wrote, "We live in a society where a mother catches less hell for giving her toddler a coke than she does for giving her toddler Breastmilk. I am working to change that in my lifetime ~~~~ Deanna Decker".
Though there were some who called her out, a majority of netizens applauded the actress' move.
Shveta Salve
Shveta Salve, who is famous for appearing in shows like Hip Hip Hurray and Left Right Left, had shared a breastfeeding picture with her baby girl in August 2019. In the caption, she anticipated trolling and sexualising comments but she stated how she posted it as it was a picture of truth and pride.
"I contemplated a lot whether I should post this image or not ... Whether Arya will grow up and be embarrassed about it .. whether I'll get trolled by people who will judge me , call me names or just be obnoxious with their degrading sexual comments....But then I took a long look at this picture again and all I saw was the look in my baby's eyes and how she and I were connected in this sacred moment . This bond is strong and so precious .. you can see the vulnerability in her eyes , her trust in her Mamma who she knows will nurture her , protect her and will always be there by her side. This is that moment of Truth , of courage and of an everlasting togetherness and I am proud of it.", she wrote in the caption.
Other international celebs like Padma Lakshmi, Chrissy Teigen, Ashley Graham and Jessica Alba also proved a point when they shared breastfeeding photos with their babies.
