MUMBAI: Today marks the 112th birth anniversary of the man who is colloquially known as the Father of Indian Nuclear Programme, Dr Homi Bhabha. A professor of Physics at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Bhabha was also the founding director of Atomic Energy Establishment, Trombay, whose name was changed to Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in his honour. Both TIFR and AEET played a huge part in India’s development of nuclear weapons, which Bhabha supervised himself as a director.

Currently, a web series titled Rocket Boys, which tells the story of Dr Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai, is in development. While Jim Sarbh essays the role of Dr Bhabha in the series, Paatal Lok fame Ishwak Singh portrays Sarabhai in the show. A few months ago, the makers revealed the first look of both the actors in the show, and in honour of Dr Bhabha’s birth anniversary today, they have launched a character teaser for Jim’s portrayal of him.

Writing, “Celebrating Dr. Homi J. Bhabha’s 112th Birth Anniversary. “Everything is impossible until it isn't...” His vision of India is today our reality. Celebrating the birth anniversary of the Father of India's Nuclear Program: Dr. Homi J. Bhabha,” the official Instagram account of Sony LIV shared the teaser video that shows Jim playing Dr Bhabha’s role to utmost credibility.

It depicts a glimpse of Dr Bhabha’s hunger to make India a self-dependent nation in terms of nuclear power and how he went about it, and it’s enough to make any Indian proud of the nuclear physicist’s achievements and contribution towards the nation.

Rocket Boys is created by Nikkhil Advani, Roy Kapur Films and Emmay Entertainment and is directed by Abhay Pannu. There hasn’t been any announcement of any official release date for it, but the show will stream on Sony LIV.
