Now, Neeraj Panday’s upcoming film Special 26 has to face high-handedness of another kind. The film has come into the eyes of the CBI that seeks to trample creative freedom.
The nation’s premier investigating agency wants to review the Akshay Kumar-starrer that is supposed to be a crime-comedy based on a true 1983 story where a group of conmen pretending to be CBI or Income Tax officers duped a top Jewellery outlet in South Mumbai.
So the CBI will be sitting through a special screening of the film to see if they have been shown in poor light or not. They will also share their apprehensions, if any, with the makers.
Special 26 has Akshay Kumar playing one of the conmen while Manoy Bajpayee plays a CBI officer. The film is scheduled to release on 8 February (2013).
