Since I mostly play negative roles, seeing me in a seedha sadha avatar in Housewife came as a surprise for my family: Monica Khanna

Monica Khanna, who is seen as Neelam in Housewife Hai Sab Janti Hai on Zee TV, is a trained Salsa dancer and a multi-talented female. She is known for playing negative and vampish roles with aplomb. And this is the first time that she is essaying the character of a sympathetic housewife in a show. Talking to Tellychakkar.com, she unwinds her journey to stardom and more. “Well, I am a Delhite and a trained Salsa dancer. Initially I always wanted to get into choreography. But it so happened that once during a visit to Mumbai, I appeared for auditions for a few roles. Eventually, I bagged Aasman Se Aage among many more. I am more of a flamboyant and chirpy person. My parents knew from the very beginning that I was not a kind of person to do 9 to 6 job. I was a kind of an entertainer in my family. May be that’s why I got into acting. In fact, I never really had planned to become an actor.” She continued, “It all happened suddenly when I bagged Housewife. There's an interesting story to it. I have very sharp features and that’s what many producers and directors tell me that I fit in the bracket of negative and vampish characters. I have always been offered such roles. Then, one day, I auditioned for Neelam who was a simple and sober housewife which is not what I look like in real life. Later on, when the creatives of the show gave me a green signal, I started shooting. Initially, I was so nervous that I asked my directors whether he was confident that I would be able to play this character. This I asked him because I had lost confidence in myself after many people told me that I was not fit to play a simple and sober housewife.” She carries on, “Later on, the best and exciting part was that my mother got stunned seeing me in the role of Neelam. Since I mostly play flamboyant and negative roles, donning a simple seedha sada role was a surprise for my family.” Talking about the cast, Monica says, “It’s an amazing cast. Though everyone is senior, yet they are quite helpful. Among the actor lot I know Suhashi Dhami for years, so everything on the sets is very cordial.” Asked if she wishes to get into films, she said, “I do intend to get into movies but not as of now.” Monica ended.
