Alongside Rajshree Thakur, popular actor Yogendra Vikram Singh roped in for Zee TV’s Bas Itna Sa Khwaab

Rajshree Thakur

MUMBAI : In countless households, a homemaker’s role often goes unnoticed—her daily efforts to save, manage, and care are quietly woven into the family’s routine, yet they are rarely valued in the same way as the work of a breadwinner. This is what Zee TV’s new offering, Bas Itna Sa Khwaab delves into with the journey of Avani Trivedi, a housewife from Kanpur, who makes small sacrifices and is constantly and tirelessly committed to her family’s well-being. Every rupee saved, every task she shoulders alone, is her way of contributing to the collective family dream of buying and moving into a bigger house they can call their home. But despite all she does, Avani’s dedication is somehow taken for granted. What people often overlook is that while a homemaker’s work may not come with a salary, the value she adds to her family’s well-being is immeasurable!

While popular actor Rajshree Thakur will be seen playing the lead role of Avani, paired opposite her is the talented actor Yogendra Vikram Singh in the role of her husband- Shikhar. He is rigid in his belief that a wife should be one step behind her husband like Sita, who always followed lord Ram. He is deeply conditioned by the conventional norms of society where there are certain spaces clearly demarcated for a man and a woman. He is uncomfortable with the blurring of those lines. Though he cares for her, he often fails to acknowledge Avani’s contribution to the family. He is very charged about building his own house.

Yogendra Vikram Singh said, “As I step into the role of Shikar in the show, I’m both excited and challenged by the depth of his personality. My character embodies a traditional mindset, one deeply rooted in the conventional beliefs he grew up with. He sees a wife’s role as a support in his life, shaped by the belief that a woman should stand a step behind her husband and listen to him because he knows better. It’s an interesting challenge for me as an actor, as I am exploring complex themes of tradition, ambition, and family but I am excited and looking forward to the audience’s reactions to our show.”

Through Avani’s story, Bas Itna Sa Khwaab sends a powerful message: That housewives who juggle a hundred responsibilities with ease and flair within the four walls of the house can most certainly transcend the threshold, step into the big bad world and provide for the house - “Jo ghar sambhaal sakti hai, woh ghar chala bhi sakti hai”.

Produced by Zee Studios, Bas Itna Sa Khwaab will premiere soon, only on Zee TV!
