TV superstar Karanvir Bohra (Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Dil Se Di Dua - Saubhagyavati Bhava), always wanted to move to the big screen. Till now, lady luck has not been favouring him (his Kismat Konnection bombed in 2009) but 2013 may turn a new leaf and see him rock in both the Hindi and Punjabi film circuits. Firstly his Hindi film Mumbai 125 kms 3D will release in April. Then somewhere close to the monsoon, his maiden Punjabi film production Love You Soniye, in which he plays a pivotal role along with his better half Teejay Siddhu, will hit the theatres. Exclaims an excited Karanvir, “I am very happy and excited. Mumbai 125 kms is India’s first real 3D stereoscopic film. Most other recent 3D releases were not shot on 3D but converted later, unlike our film. So it will have a different look and feel, do check it out.” Moving on to Love You Soniye, Karanvir says, “It is 70 per cent complete and the second schedule will start towards this month’s end and the first copy should be out by June.” Since the last two generations, Karanvir’s family has been into film production (Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, Gangs of Wasseypur 1 and 2 and Shaitan). “Apart from Hindi films, we have also made around 35 Gujarati movies as well. Punjabi films is the new south. And the huge international audience ensures that the films are made very classily as well,” he adds. So what about TV, we ask him. “I will never leave small screen. Times have changed and actors are ready to dabble with all mediums. I will surely consider a good reality show if it comes my way,” he answers with a smile. Talking about Dil Se Di Dua - Saubhagyavati Bhava which made him a big name, Karanvir observes, “May be it could have ended in a more better way. Having said that, the format of thriller drama was such that it could not have been stretched for more than six to eight months anyways. Had it been only a thriller, we could have gone on and on.” “The story had to end either with Sia (Sriti Jha/ Mala Salariya) walking out and finding another man or my character(Viraj ) prevailing. All said and done, I am happy that we ended before the audiences could say enough is enough. I also feel that this show has helped me a lot for my journey into Punjabi films as it taught me a lot about the entire shooting craft from dialogues, to screenplay, lighting etc. I am always a hands-on-guy and keep chipping on set when I have some spare time.” Karanvir, we hope that your career continues to rock. God bless!
