MUMBAI: Popular Television actress Divyanka Tripathi was present for an interaction with a leading entertainment portal where she talked about her journey into the acting Industry. During her conversation she was asked did she ever experience the casting couch when she was starting her career as an actress. Divyanka says, yes a big nod there, I did experience casting couch in my initial days.

Talking further, she adds on your first break, there are different people who try to take advantage of you. I think it's important that you go through this phase as well. Going through these weird phases where you have to maintain your sanity. For example, contractually, we get looted. When you have first signed the contract you don’t know what you are going to do. So, at a bare minimum cost, they will make you do maximum work through the contract you have signed. After that you have to do the work no matter what, you can’t take leave even if you are not well, you have to keep going. From that phrase to some production guy falling on me and trying to untie me. When you object to that, the scenario gets completely changed where they will say that they will spread rumors about me, wrong news will be circulated, etc.
She further adds, When I came into the industry, I was almost like a kid, who don’t know that people can really talk like this. But when your show gets over and your struggle get starts again to find a new show. That time, I had got an offer that I have to be with this director and you will get a big break. I asked them why me. To which he replied, that director really likes your work and you are very intellectual. They tried to sell like it is the only thing which will give your career boost. Moreover, he will try to convince you, that all the actors are doing the same, then why not you. And when you reject the offer, they will tell you that if you don't do it they will destroy your career. But I never fall into that trap because I always knew that when I got my first break because of my talent then why not the second time too.
