MUMBAI: Prateik Babbar, son of Smita Patil and Raj Babbar, began his career as a production assistant before pursuing an acting career. Prior to his screen debut, Babbar appeared in television advertisements for a variety of products, including Nestle KitKat. He debuted in Bollywood in a supporting role in the 2007 film 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' with Genelia D'Souza and Imran Khan. Recently, during an interaction, Prateik revealed that director Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted to cast him in 'Saawariya'.
Prateik said that SLB called his house for 'Saawariya' when he was 18 years old, at that time he was in rehab. The actor said that he was too young and it couldn't have worked out. The star also revealed that he came to know about this when his grandparents told him a few years later.
He further revealed that missing out on being in 'Saawariya' did not pinch him because, at that point in life, he did not want to be an actor. Babbar revealed that he wanted to be a rockstar. The star wanted to grow his hair, wear eye make-up, face make-up and scream on stage.
He played a variety of roles in 2011, appearing in the crime thriller Dum Maaro Dum and the political drama Aarakshan, while drawing the attention of critics for his performances in independent films, including the drama Dhobi Ghat and the romantic comedy My Friend Pinto. He had his biggest successes with the thriller Baaghi 2, the comedy Chhichhore, and the action drama film Darbar.
Prateik, who has also been seen in projects like Four More Shots Please and Chakravyuh is a part of upcomjng film Bachchhan Paandey.
