MUMBAI: Sony Entertainment Television’s Mose Chhal Kiye Jaaye, has struck the right chord with its audience. Although it appears to first-hand be a show that dwells upon the fight between the mind and the heart, there are several other grey aspects to it which keep the viewers engaged and enthralled throughout. The show also boasts of several interesting characters in addition to the protagonists, who have their own intricacies for the audience to explore. One such role is that of Harshvardhan Oberoi, father of Armaan, played by Manik Bedi.
As an actor who has mostly taken up positive roles in the past, Harshvardhan Oberoi’s character was quite a challenge for Manik Bedi. The character comes with an extremely negative shade, who believes that women should be domesticated, take care of the house and the family and that the man is responsible for taking care of his woman. Elaborating on this, he mentions, “Harshvardhan Oberoi’s character is a very strong entity who possibly turned out this way due to his mother or father’s presence or ideologies, or manner of raising him as a child. Harshvardhan is extremely harsh in his reactions and ways of thinking, and it often gets tough to essay the role on screen due to his extreme mannerisms or the way in which he treats other characters on the show.”
Adding to it, he says “I personally am the complete opposite of Harshvardhan – throughout my life, I have personally idolized every woman who has been important to me, be it my mother, wife , sister and daughter. They have a big hand in making me the man I am today , one who treats women with dignity and I owe a lot to them. I believe that both men and women have their own separate roles assigned to them by society, and they should uphold the same. Often, while I act in rough scenes with my co-star, Alka ji, I do make it a point to apologize profusely after a scene where I’m asked to be rude to her. Although the part is heavy, it is the writers’ and producer’s vision being brought to life and I personally believe that we owe it to the story and the channel’s idea of the story to do justice to the roles assigned to us. I’m excited to know how the audience will respond to such nuances of characters like Armaan, Soumya and Harshvardhan himself and can’t wait for what the show has in store for our viewers.”
