In 1985, Raj Kapoor introduced her in his directorial Ram Teri Ganga Maili. Her performance in the film wowed everyone.

There is no doubt that Ram Teri Ganga Maili became an iconic movie. Apart from Mandakini’s amazing performance, the film was in the news for some controversies as well. The film featured scenes of the actress breastfeeding and bathing in a transparent saree, and that had created a lot of controversies. After Ram Teri Ganga Maili, she starred in successful films like Dance Dance, Pyaar Karke Dekho, and others. In 1996, she decided to leave the industry after the release of her film Zordaar.
Mandakini was one of the most beautiful actresses of the 80s and 90s, and now also she looks gorgeous. The actress is all set to make a comeback with a music video which will mark her son’s debut. While talking to E-Times about her comeback, the actress said, “I'm very happy to associate with director Sajan Agarwal ji. I’ve known him since a long time but finally we’re working together. Maa O Maa is a very beautiful song and I instantly fell in love with it. The best part of this song is that my son is playing the lead. We will start shooting this song by the end of the month.”
On the personal front, Mandakini tied the knot with Dr Kagyur T Rinpoche Thakur who was a former Buddhist monk. The actress embraced Buddhism and later started Tibetan yoga classes.
