The format of Star Plus’ Voice of India has undergone a change when the host of the show Shaan threatened to quit if undeserving talent gets promoted and parents cry foul. The change is that 100% rights will be given to the judges to bring in wild cards and there will be no public voting.
The eliminated contestants and their parents voiced their displeasure at the fact that more sympathy votes are coming in for Zakir who’s a physically challenged contestant and real talent is getting lost. Zakir has a very limited range of singing (read only Mohd. Rafi’s songs). They are sure that he is only getting votes because of sympathy and the judges too are biased towards him.
Shaan too looked agitated as his top 3 contestants in Bemisaal Barah namely Mallar from Kolkata, Rahul from Maharshtra and Shradhha from Jharkhand were first to be eliminated and said that if this continues and undeserving contestants get publicity and promotion he might consider discontinuing the show.
Eliminated contestant Shraddha’s father said, “My family depends on the fact that Shraddha goes ahead. Very few people from Jharkhand are supporting her. The judges are the biggest audience and all should be left to the judge’s decision and not audience decision. Also other parents created a ho-hum about the 50% public voting which gives a very skewed result and real talent is eliminated from the show.
The change of format will be made on Saturday, 27 September on the show.
