MUMBAI: Malayalam film director KN Sasidharan breathed his last on Monday (7-July-2022) morning. He was 72. Reportedly, he was staying in his residence in Edappally, Kochi. Sasidharan’s funeral will be held today evening. He is survived by his wife Veena Sasidharan and two children Rithu Sasidharan and Mukhil Sasidharan.
KN Sasidharan made his directorial debut in Mollywood with the film ‘Akkare’ which was released in the year 1984 and had the actors Bharat Gopy, Madhavi, Mammootty, Nedumudi Venu, Mohanlal, Rani Padmini, Sreenivasan and VK Sriraman in lead roles.
KN Sasidharan’s sophomore directorial venture was ‘Kanathaya Penkutty’ (1985) which was a crime mystery movie. The story written by Babu Mathews revolved around the mysterious disappearance of a girl who is rumored to have been murdered by someone close to her. Bharat Gopy, Jayabharati, Mammootty, Ramachandran, and VK Sriraman played pivotal roles in the film directed by KN Sasidharan.
KN Sasidharan’s previous directorial film was ‘Nayana’ which was released in the year 2014 and revolved around the story of a seven-year-old artist named ‘Nayana’. Actors Miya George, Jagadish, Kalpana, and Anupam Kher played significant roles in the drama film.
Apart from being a filmmaker, KN Sasidharan is prominently known as an advertisement director who has made several noteworthy Television advertisements including the popular advertisement for a washing soap with the catchphrase ‘Vannallo Vanamala’.
