MUMBAI: The movie Shamshera, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor, and Sanjay Dutt, has been the talk of the town ever since it was announced. The movie was the talk of the town not only because of its scale but also because it marks the comeback of Ranbir Kapoor after a long gap of 4 years.
It was 22nd July when the movie hit the big screen and it has got some mixed to negative responses from the fans, audience, and also critics. We have seen many critics' videos and comments which were from the audience where they have expressed that they disliked the movie.
Having said that today let us discuss what went wrong with the movie Shamshera.
Storytelling
The storytelling is one of the major drawbacks of Shamshera. It looks outdated and lacks freshness. The story also reminds many of other Bollywood movies. The hype was very high but the story could not do justice to the film and hence got some negative comments from the fans.
Sanjay Dutt
No doubt it is always a treat to watch the actor Sanjay Dutt in his projects, and watching the actor in the negative character is just a fan thing. Sanjay Dutt who was seen playing the negative character is trying to be dangerous on screen but there were many unintentional funny sequences that made the audience laugh whenever the actor was on screen. The character of Sanjay Dutt should have been better and more dangerous.
Less of the actress Vaani Kapoor
Vaani Kapoor is no doubt one of the most loved actresses. Her fan following has increased, especially after her movie Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. Vaani Kapoor looks hot and sizzling throughout the movie but unfortunately, we get to see less of her. She was majorly seen during the second half.
The movie reminded us of KGF and Bahubali
Shamshera also reminded us of KGF and Bahubali in many places. The concept of father and son being played by the same actor and how the son fights for his father reminded us of Bahubali. On the other hand, the visuals especially in the prison scenes reminded us of KGF.
The length of the movie
The length is a very important factor for any movie, especially when your movie is on a big scale with multiple stars. Shamshera is around 2 hours 40 minutes but it had less to offer in terms of content. The screenplay of the movie is very weak and there are many places where the movie was looking stretched. The movie could have been shorter.
