I don’t see it as too much of a baggage to adapt the Korean show flower of evil in India, Goldie Behl speaks on Duranga

MUMBAI: ZEE5, India's largest home-grown video streaming platform and multilingual storyteller announced Duranga last week and the trailer is gripping, intriguing and interesting. While we can’t wait to watch the show, we got an exclusive scoop from Goldie Behl the producer of Duranga.

Directed by Pradeep Sarkar and Aijaz Khan, Duranga is an official adaptation of the Korean show named ‘Flower of Evil’. Helmed by Goldie Behl and Shradha Singh, the romantic thriller will star Gulshan Devaiah and Drashti Dhami as protagonists and will premiere on the platform on 19th August 2022.

Goldie Behl exclusively told us about the remaking of the popular Korean Show Flower of Evil and the baggage to live up to the expectations of the fans, he said “While there is a certain amount of curiosity and interest of it being an adaptation, it is the very first Korean show to be adapted in India. I don’t see it as too much of a baggage as such. Those who have seen the original know the story already. So if they are watching it again they are watching it for the form which is very very different from the original. And those who have not watched the original it doesn’t matter to them what the original was. There is a legacy of Flower Of Evil but our show is treated to the Indian taste and Indian web audiences. So it’s far grittier than the original one.”

Produced by Rose Audio Visuals, Duranga chronicles the love story of Sammit [played by Gulshan Devaiah] and Ira [played by Drashti Dhami], that unfolds in three different timelines. Hiding a twisted past, Sammit maintains a facade of a perfect husband to his Inspector wife — Ira. With a series of twists and turns, Ira begins investigating multiple gory copycat murders by the suspected accomplice of a psychopathic serial killer Bala, twenty years after his suicide. This case leads her to some shocking revelations about her husband! In true Kafkaesque style, the story will show how the protagonists wade through constant problems, despite which, they stand tall. But still leaving you with a question – How well do you know your partner?
