TV stars root for their favourite team to lift IPL trophy

Notwithstanding the entire spot fixing controversy, the aura and popularity of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL season 6), now in its slog overs, is not diminishing. With the play offs kicking today, Tellychakkar.com spoke to a few actors and asked who according to them would clash in the grand finale and lift the much coveted trophy. Said Shakti Arora (Pavtira Ristha),“ I am a diehard Mumbai Indians (MI) fan and am confident that in today’s crunch match with CSK (Chennai Super Kings ), the former will qualify for the final to be played on the 26th of this month. They have to win as it will be a perfect send off to the God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar who is apparently playing his final IPL season. The rest of the squad (Mitchell Johnson, Pragyan Ojha and Dhawal Kulkarni) is also firing on all cylinders.” Since most of our TV stars are Mumbai-based , they all seem to root for their home side. Even Divyanka Tripathi, shortly to be seen in Ekta Kapoor’s Custody supports MI, “I am biased”, she smiles though she has no clue about other squads in the fray. “I don’t get time from work to really check out the games.” On the other hand, Rohit Khurana (Khoobsurat) feels that CSK, which has also lifted the IPL trophy twice before, might stump MI on a neutral ground (Delhi) tonight. “For Dhoni is one captain who can really deliver goods on crunch days. This team India skipper always leads from the front and encourages his boys to put in their best. It is a well-known fact that CSK always has the edge. The team is very balanced with great players (Murali Vijay and A Morkel) ably supporting Dhoni,” the actor responds. Amit Behl dismisses the growing clamour for the removal of one of the favourite team Rajasthan Royals due to the involvement of three of its players in a spot fixing case. “I support Dravid’s unit and hope they make to the final in their eliminator match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Why should the entire franchise suffer due to the misdeeds of a few rotten apples. Why don’t you see from the other side that despite the absence of these three guys, RR still managed to win most of their games which shows the skill and hunger to win for this unit,” he observes. Aastha Choudhary, who hails from Rajasthan, hopes that her home team will qualify for the finals along with Mumbai Indians. “The best part of RR is that they have a deep batting lining up (Ajinkya Rahane and Shane Watson) who can chase down any score. But sadly, somehow they are unable to set big scores when they bat first,” Astha murmurs. Dheeraj Dhopar, while batting for MI’s win says, “I hope Hyderabad also makes it to the semifinals. The entry of Shikhar Dhwan in the squad has changed the fate. Initially, nobody thought that they will have a chance but then they went on winning the later games and have emerged as one of the dark horses of this year’s IPL. However, the rest of the batting line will need to up their game if they want to upset MI today.” Sara Khan also says that she will support the Charminar city team in their next do-or-die fixture with RR. “It is no mean feat that this new franchise has managed to reach so far in their debut IPL season. They have very good players (Dale Steyn and Cameron White). I always like to root for the underdogs for they have the most fire in their belly to find their place in the sun,” she maintains.
