They have been termed as pan-Indian films and have been dubbed in multiple languages as well. Let us take a look at these films, their reach, and their effect on the box office.

MUMBAI : Many South Indian films have been getting the status of pan-Indian films, but the truth is that they are just being released with dubs in Hindi and some other South Indian languages. Because of the many dubbed versions and impressive marketing, it seems like these films have a great viewership across the country and are doing wonders at the box office. Let us take a look at the reality of the success of these films.

When Baahubali 1 and Baahubali 2 were released, their success set the example for what pan-India films should be like. Jumping on the bandwagon, the films that worked after them as proper pan-India products are RRR, KGF, KGF 2 and Pushpa. Karthikeya 2 showed signs of doing well, and now, Kantara is joining the race in an effort to make its mark. A glance below at the Hindi language box office collection of these south movies will give you a better idea of why they fit the ' pan-India' tag.

- KGF (2018): Rs. 44 crore net - Semi-Hit

- Pushpa (2021): Rs. 108 crore net - Blockbuster

- RRR (2022): Rs. 274 crore net - Blockbuster

- KGF 2 (2022): Rs. 435 crore net - All-Time Blockbuster

- Karthikeya 2 (2022): Rs. 31 crore net - Hit

- Kantara (2022): Rs. 8.25 crore net - As it is a recent movie, the final number is pending

Movies like Valimai, Vikram, and Ponniyin Selvan, did well in their local Tamil language, but could not leave a mark in other language box offices, especially in Hindi. Then films like Radhe Shyam and Liger failed miserably in every language, including their own. The below list is of pan-India films that didn't work in Hindi and other languages as well.

- Radhe Shyam: Rs. 19 crore net - Failure

- Valimai: Rs. 2 crore net - Failure

- Vikram: Rs. 7 crore net - Failure

- Liger: Rs. 20 crore net - Flop

- Ponniyin Selvan: Rs. 20 crore net - Flop
