Accolades for Hope Productions and Eros International’s English Vinglish that released last October seem to be still coming in. The widely acclaimed film, directed by Gauri Shinde, has recently won the Best Visiting Artiste Award at the Cinema Society of San Diego.
Announcing the win, Director of Cinema Society San Diego, Andrew Friedenberg said, “You did it! You made history! As the founder and director of the Cinema Society of San Diego, I am proud to announce that the winner of the 2012-2013 season Best Visiting Artist Award, as voted on by our members, has gone to… English Vinglish. In fact, it wasn’t even close, you dominated the voting! My congratulations to all of you for your appearance, enthusiasm, professionalism and finally your kindness at our 29th season finale.”
Incidentally, the film was the runners-up of the Mercedes-Benz Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at the 24th Palm Springs International Film Festival, this year.
English Vinglish has also attracted a lot of attention from other festivals including the International Film Festival Bratislava that was held in November, last year in Slovakia. The film was also showcased at the Marrakech International Film Festival in Morocco in December, 2012.
