MUMBAI: Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Neena Gupta, Sarika, and Parineeti Chopra starrer Uunchai was released on 11th November 2022. The film has received mostly positive reviews, and though the promotions were less, the word of mouth has converted into good numbers.
Uunchai in its first weekend has collected Rs. 10.16 crore which is not a big number, but still quite decent as not many mid-budget films have even crossed Rs. 10 crore mark at the box office with their lifetime collection. Post the pandemic, Amitabh Bachchan has featured in a few mid-budget movies and most of them have turned out to be disasters at the box office in comparison, while Uunchai has performed much better than them.

Big B’s first film to release during the pandemic was Chehre. The movie was released when only theatres in a few states were opened and it collected Rs. 1.70 crores in three days. Earlier, this year, his movie Jhund hit the big screens and it collected Rs. 5.58 crore in its first weekend. Just a month back, Amitabh Bachchan starrer Goodbye hit the big screens, and it just collected Rs. 3.78 crores at the box office.
So, with the weekend collection of Uunchai, it’s proved that the audience is ready to come and watch the movies in theatres if the reviews and word of mouth are good. Sooraj Barjatya’s directorial was released on just 486 screens, and even with such fewer screens, the collection is good. Let’s see how the film will perform at the box office on the weekdays.
