MUMBAI:  Suniel Shetty and Vivek Oberoi starrer web series Dharavi Bank has started streaming on MX Player. The story of the web series revolves around Thalaivan (Shetty) who is a gangster based out in the slums of Dharavi, and Jayant (Oberoi), a cop whose aim is to finish Thalaivan.

TellyChakkar recently interacted with Vivek Oberoi and spoke to him about the web series and a lot more…

In the movies and web series, when it’s good vs evil, you are always the evil one. So, were you a bit surprised when a positive role was offered to you?

I was excited because I wanted to play a different shade and I was super excited as we had Anna playing the Thalaivan because that was something I would have personally wanted to see, the aura and the stature coming to life on screen, and to match that and have something strong with deep integrity, honesty, and strength. He is a man standing up to a larger-than-life figure and an empire. While Jayant’s end objective is clean, honest, and inclined towards justice, his means are not. He is willing to cross all lines and break all rules to eventually achieve the right end, and that was exciting about the character.

You worked with Suniel Shetty in Shootout at Lokhandwala and now in Dharavi Bank. How was it to share screen space with him 15 years back and now?

Anna is somebody I have known from my student days not just as a fan but I used to go on the sets as my dad has done films with him. So, Anna was this really warm, loving, and genuine person, talking to this impressionable kid as I was in my student days. He used to give me good advice, take time, and have a conversation with me. I took that home with me. I was like what a great guy he is. From a fan on screen, I became a fan off-screen. So, we always had a warm relationship, and to work post Shootout at Lokhandwala in Dharavi Bank was amazing. What took me back by surprise was that I was imagining Anna, and when I saw Thalaivan I forgot Anna. I feel Dharavi Bank is his best work yet.
