The three new shows hit screens last weekend had opened to great success with families glued to these fun filled reality shows. Having bid farewell to the IPL craze, the shows have come as a relief to the viewers with excitement and entertainment galore. The dance and song routine has proved to be an achievement for the small screen once again. As you wait with bated breaths for the next episode tomorrow, here is an analysis of the three shows and what more will you be treated with in time.
Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6 (Colors)- With the gala opening night being a complete combination of entertainment and glamour, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6 looks really promising in terms of quality of dance and fun (opening rating of 2.4). The duo combination of Manish Paul and Kapil Sharma is bound to keep your funny bones tickling. With a long list of celebrities as participants who are all geared to give paisa vasool performances every week, this popular show in its sixth season has a great line up of judges in Madhuri Dixit, Remo D’souza and Karan Johar. The trio definitely knows how to keep the competition burning along with their super anecdotes. The 11 participants have proved their mettle and with some of the extremely talented dancers like international dancer-actress Lauren Gottlieb, Sweta Tiwari, Sumanth and Sonali in the show, the audience is set for a treat.
Karanvir Bohra who scored a whooping 27 out of 30 last week spoke to us about the efforts they are putting up for the next rounds. “It is been a hard time, band baj gayee hai bilkul, but it’s been a fun ride. We are basically trying to do things we have never done before, and the audience will be in surprise with our performances in the coming weeks. This week I will be performing a contemporary act, and the best part will be I get to jive with Madhuri Dixit.”
The red-box challenge he feels is a ‘box on our face’ as the challenges toughen every week. Two other contestants, the first being Eijaz Khan, who was injured and could not perform on the first episode and secondly ace cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth, are likely to join the competition from this weekend. JDJ has always been extravagant with the glamour quotient, with a long list of Bollywood and TV celebs thriving on the dance floor. As in this weekend you will catch the performance of sexy Sunny Leone who will also play a prank on the anchors. The improved TRP of Colors from 184 to 186 has proved that the show has been accepted well but it still has a long way to go.
DID Super Moms (Zee TV)- The show assures to present the mothers in a brand new avatar and looked promising in its first episode this weekend. Having to compete with the other dance show JDJ on the 9pm time slot, the show will have to bring more to catch the audience’s interest. Although it is currently showing the city auditions, the talents of the moms are really impressive. Added to it are some of the emotional back stories about their struggle which left a tear in the viewers’ eyes. The crackling chemistry of the judges, Farah Khan and Marzi Pestonji is worth a watch. With yester year’s dancing sensation and today’s grandmaster Mithun Chakraborthy getting back to the helm soon in the coming episodes, there is quite a lot expected from this series. The first weekend saw Dharmendra on the show promoting his film and even performed a romantic ballet with one of the participants (he still can make any girl go weak on her knees).
Ajay Bhalwankar, ZEEL Content Head, Hindi GECs informed us, “DID is the biggest brand in India and the most successful reality show format. We are happy that the content has been appreciated by the audiences as we had immense faith in the concept. The upcoming episodes are even more interesting and entertaining. What viewers have seen is just the tip of the iceberg! The show has broken the popular myth that mothers are not suitable to shake a leg on the DID platform. Once the Gala episodes begin, the viewers will see some crackling dance-chemistry between the contestants and our skippers Jai, Siddhesh, Prince and Raghav. Engaging the audiences with powerhouse talented mums is what we are looking forward to.” The show opened to a high rating of 3.0 in the TRP charts, but the ratings for ZEE has fallen from last week. So will this show provide the needed attraction for the channel? Time will tell…
Indian Idol Junior (Sony Entertainment Television)- TV buffs who want a get away from the dance routine can always tune into Indian Idol Junior. The promotions which looked refreshing and promising did not disappoint the audience. With the tagline, ‘Gaano Ka Wahi Jaadu, Ab Bachon Ki Aawaaz Mein’ the hunt for the nation’s first Indian Idol junior began with the city auditions. Hosting the show is the cute Karan Wahi and the expert with the mike Mandira Bedi. The talented duo Vishal Dadliani, Shekhar Ravjiani and the beautiful Shreya Ghosal hold the reign of the show as the judges. With singing shows loosing on the fancy content, the children with their cute and humble tidbits, is always a win-win scenario for the makers.
Anupama Mandloi, Head of Content, Fremantle Media, said, “The show has received positive feedback, especially in terms of the talent. As the show progresses, the talent that we will reveal is sure to create ripples. It has been one of the most difficult decisions for the judges to select the top 10 contestants. The journey towards finding the first Indian idol junior promises to be awe inspiring and enriching. ”
The participating children between the age group of 5-15 years looked tremendously cute and can give any professional singer a run for their money. Sony Entertainment has risen on the TRP ratings this week from 149 to 154, but it still lacks behind among its competitors. Let’s see if the kiddos will manage to hike up ratings further. The show's first episode bagged the rating of 1.8.
