How excited or nervous are you for season 2 of Rocket Boys?

Very excited, not so nervous; it’s more like the feeling that let's get it over with and can 16th March be now! So, it’s like that.

Season 1 had received such a great response, so was there pressure to perform better in season 2?

We shot 80 percent of season 2 before season 1 came out. We just tried to do our best back then and the same we tried to do our best for season 1. The little bit that we had left like 20% to shoot was about a 30-day schedule and I was not even required for all the days. Of course, Abhay Pannu has tried in whatever ways we could build on the strengths of season 1 and try to diminish the weaknesses. But, really there wasn't much that could be changed because 80% was already shot. So, we just stuck to the original idea and concept, and the original spirit with which we shot season 1. So, there’s not that much pressure as it’s not like going back to it all over again.

We have always read about this debate that if a character is Haryanvi, then an actor from Haryana should play it, and if there’s a South Indian character, an actor from South India should play it. So, do you think the audience connected with your character because you are a Parsi and played a Parsi character of Homi Bhabha?

I think they would have connected with the character if anyone on earth had played them well. That’s the end of that debate essentially. I think my doing it makes it easier because there's an immediate identifiable connection for an audience like he is a Parsi. But I don’t look like Homi Bhabha; I have a very different facial structure, whereas Ishwak has more similarities to Vikram Sarabhai. So, now I don’t get into this debate that you have to be from here and you have to be from there. Of course, representation is a different thing. I think the issue is raised simply because if there’s finally a brilliant character written for a minority individual, then why don’t the filmmakers make the little extra effort to find somebody from within that community to play the part? I understand that is also a debate and that is a perfectly valid stance. In this particular case, I don’t know; I guess Parsis are a minority community, so I am glad they came to me.
