DD’s popular game show Smart Shrimati is back with its third season. The first of its kind woman centric game brings to life all the positive qualities of a woman – Confidence, intelligence, smartness and most of all, the ability to optimise limited resources. The game gives the middle class Indian housewife a chance to relieve herself of roz ke gharelu jhanjhat, step out of the boundaries of her home and frolic in some fursat ke lamhe. The concept of the game show has a truly Indian feel. It is based on the Chausar from the ancient Indian epic, The Mahabharata. In India the female has been revered from time immemorial for her intelligence, patience and perseverance. Befitting that sentiment and in sync with the new age audiences the roles have been reversed in the Chausar. The men-folk, the husbands will be entrapped in the Chausar while the women hold the stakes and are at liberty to use their smartness to release their husbands. Mr. Hemant Goyal, Marketing Manager, Wheel, Hindustan Unilver, stated, “The resounding success of the first season was what brought back the second. It is the most popular game show across all channels (In season II, it was the eight most watched TV program across DD and CNS channels).” The third season brings many more pleasant surprises and nail biting twists! There will be good old favorite, Annu Kapoor, on a whole new set, in the shape of a giant size wheel – the Wheel Chakra. At the centre of the wheel will be the Chausar that will trap all the husbands. The wheel will be divided into sections by its spokes and each participant will be placed on a different section while playing. Further, each section will have steps to indicate the progress of a participant. While climbing each step, participants, beware! Lest you step on mama Shakuni!!! If the participant steps on Shakuni she will lose half of her stakes; if she steps on wheel chakra, she will be given a chance to shop at the Wheel Shoppe. Here’s the chance to exercise the new and exciting element of SS 3, the Wheel helpline in form of the participant’s much loved mother-in-law. The participant can seek her mother-in-laws advice, both during the rounds as well as while deciding which step to take – black or white. Mummyji’s luck must keep her away from Shakuni mama. The game includes four rounds - Meri Khabar, Mera Humsafar, Mera Asar from the second season and a new round, Meri Tezi. The other big change in the show this time is the zonal structure. There are 16 participants each from the 4 zones - North, East, West and Central. Each zone will have two finalists out of which one will be chosen by public through SMS voting. These 4 finalists (one from each zone) will then play in the grand finale, not only to win themselves the title of WSS and a grand prize of Rs. 10 lac, but also for the pride of their zones. “The show sends a message, that being a housewife is no ignominy, but one that deserves appreciation and recognition galore. It celebrates and salutes all the housewives who have always risen to challenges in managing their home and family yet retain their joi de vivre. The participating housewives will receive recognition not only in their own homes, but in every single home in the country,” said Annu Kapoor, the host of the show. Smart Shrimati comes to your homes on August 13, 2008 at 10pm every Wednesday.
