MUMBAI: Priyamani is one of the biggest names in the South film industry and the Hindi audience knows her for her dance number in Chennai Express and her performance in OTT series The Family Man. She will next be seen another OTT series titled Sarvam Shakthi Mayam.
TellyChakkar recently interacted with Priyamani and spoke to her about Sarvam Shakthi Mayam, her role and more...
Tell us something about your upcoming series Sarvam Shakthi Mayam.
As the title suggests, Sarvam Shakthi Mayam means God is everywhere, their energy is all around and the divine and spiritual power exists. It is just up to you to open your heart a little more. We are not saying that people are non-believers, but that if you believe in them, open your heart a little more. Through this journey of 18 Maha Shakti Peethas, we are trying to educate people that there are such places.

What was your reaction when the series was offered to you?
Initially, when this role was offered to me, I was in two minds. Somewhere, I thought that it was a typical housewife role and there’s not much to contribute. But, I was convinced properly that I should agree to it. We had to make little changes in the script; dialogues mostly, not the character because in some parts, I didn’t feel convinced. Through this journey, she is realising that even she can do some things herself, so why such dialogues? Obviously, it was better for the character and the script.
In the trailer, we can see that a character is an atheist and we are living in a sensitive situation that even a tweet can get us into controversy. So, were you a bit hesitant before taking up the series? What if it gets into any controversy?
It won’t come in any controversy because we have handled the entire story very nicely. We are not saying that it is an atheist vs a believer. We are just saying that there are people who are atheist and there are people who might not believe until and unless they have an experience. We are not trying to convince an aethist to believe in something, but only to open one's mind a little.
Sarvam Shakthi Mayam is slated to premiere on Zee5 on 9th June 2023.
