MUMBAI : Shirin Sewani has been a part of OTT shows like Taj Mahal 1989, Only for Singles, Backpackers, Rafuchakkar and others. She is also famously known for creating some hilarious videos on Instagram.
TellyChakkar recently interacted with Shirin and spoke to her about the time she decided to become an actor, the actors and directors she wants to work with and more...
A lot of times it happens with actors that if they come from a TV background and have done OTT, they don’t get lead roles in movies. Have you faced something like this in your career?
We face a lot in life. Of course, this discussion can go on and on, from nepotism to so many other aspects. I just believe that you should work hard and whatever destiny has in store for you, you will get that. Of course, it is difficult because there’s so much competition; I would not like to blame anything. Also, if you have a family in the same industry, you do get the perks of it and there’s nothing wrong or right about it. I just feel that I have worked in TV, I have done OTT and one film as well. Also, I am into content creation side by side. So, I am here for my audience. I will do what they want.
When was the time you decided to become an actor?
During my childhood, I watched Baazigar with parents and decided to go for it then and there (laughs). I wanted to do what Shah Rukh Khan was doing. At that time, I didn’t even know that it’s called acting. I always knew that I wanted to do something in the entertainment field. I was that one student in my school who would do anything to get a lead role in my annual day. So, since then, I have wanted to do this.
Do you have a list of directors and actors you dream to work with; of course, Shah Rukh Khan will be on the list?
You said it right (laughs)! It’s not a dream; this is something that I know will happen. I don’t know when, but I hope soon. On a serious note, I would definitely love to work with Rajkumar Hirani and Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir. These are two of my favourite directors and I dream to work with them.
