MUMBAI: Sushmita Sen ruled the OTT with her performance in Aarya seasons 1 and 2. Now, she is ready for her next OTT project titled Taali. The series is based on the life of transgender Shreegauri Sawant and a few days ago, the first look and later a teaser of the show was released, and Sushmita was simply excellent in it.

Now, while many have hailed her courage to play a transgender and a powerful role like this, there are many who have trolled her for it. Speaking to a news portal Susmita said, “The first poster of Taali that I had released had half my face and the clap. I remember that in the comment section, there were lots of nameless people as social media is full of, writing ‘chhakka’ repeatedly. I thought, how can they do that to me?”

Although initially it affected the Aarya actress, she later realized what the real transgenders of our society are subjected to. She added, “I took it very personally because it was happening on my timeline. I, of course, blocked all of them. But it hit me that if that’s how it’s making me feel when I’m only portraying Gauri Sawant’s life, they’re living with it every breathing moment of their life.”

Having nothing but admiration and praise for the real Shreegauri’s spirit Sushmita added, “Gauri Sawant comes across as a person who’s very strong, articulate and no-nonsense which she is but there’s also a vulnerable side to her, a side to her she protects from the world. In Taali, I’ve shown that side. I want everyone to see who Gauri Sawant really is.”

Taali is directed by Ravi Jadhav who has directed many famous Marathi movies like Natarang, Balak Palak, Timepass, Nude, and others. So, the expectations from Taali are quite high. The series will premiere on Jio Cinema on 15th August 2023.
