MUMBAI: Sanya Malhotra made her acting debut in the 2016 sports drama Dangal, playing wrestler Babita Kumari Phogat from real life. Up until Jawan, her most recent release and second-largest picture of her career, she went on to star in other modest-budget critically acclaimed movies like Ludo, Pagglait, Badhaai Ho, and Kathal.
The actress plays a member of Shah Rukh Khan's band of girls in the action thriller, helping him on his Robin Hood-like quests to rob the rich and save the needy. Sanya is seen performing extreme acrobatics in the Atlee movie and has an emotional past. The actress is thrilled and delighted that Jawan has had such a huge beginning at the box office.
On Sunday, September 10, she conducted an Ask Me Anything on her Instagram Stories, responding to queries from her fans and followers on the Meta-owned social media site. "Jawan or Dangal...select one?" a netizen questioned, asking her to choose between the two films. The Kathal actress responded in a funny way by posting a boomerang footage of her finger-signaling "I can't."
The actress will appear in Mrs., the official Hindi version of the critically acclaimed 2021 Malayalam movie The Great Indian Kitchen starring Nimisha Sajayan and Suraj Venjaramoodu, opposite Angad Bedi. Arati Kadav of Cargo fame is the film's director, and Harman Baweja is its producer.
Another movie for Sanya is scheduled to be released this year. She will be portrayed as Siloo Manekshaw, the first Field Marshal of India, who is being played by Vicky Kaushal. Sam Manekshaw is her husband. On December 1 theatrical premiere of the Meghna Gulzar-directed film will compete with Ranbir Kapoor's gangster crime movie Animal.
