MUMBAI: Anupamaa is one of the most loved serials on television and is number one on the TRP charts, as the storyline is gripping and relatable.
The audience love the acting chops of Rupali Ganguly, Gaurav Khanna, Madalsa Sharma and Sudhanshu Pandey as they make the scenes and characters look real.
The supporting cast is the USP of the serial as every actor aces his performance in the show.
Sagar Parekh entered the show mid-way as Samar and from day one, he made a place in the audience's hearts.
His character Samar is loved by the fans and they consider him as an ideal son but then a twist happened where we did see post the marriage Samar was seen supporting his wife.
These days the new promo of the show shows that Samar's character might die and that his character would come to an end.
Today, he is a household name and has a good fan following.
TellyChakkar got in touch with Sagar and asked him about the sudden shift in his character and asked him if he was a method or a spontaneous actor.
What was your take on the sudden shift of Samar going against the family?
I think I had a positive take when they decided to shift the character. I knew this was going to happen as the show relates to thousands of people and you can't hold onto one thing and accept this character will behave like this only and personally as an actor I like to do shifts in characters and I love doing it where I get to act and showcase my talents. I don't have any objections. The main motive is that the character should reach a lot of people and they should relate to it. There are so many situations like this in real life where after marriage things do change.
How would you deal with this situation as Sagar when it comes to choosing your wife or family?
I think it would be scary to be in the situation of Samar as both are important. It will be a very difficult situation for a man. If you ask me personally I would just try to solve things. I would make both of them understand and make things clear. I think relations under this bond call for a little compromise. I would tell my family and wife to compromise a little and that is the least that I can do.
Do you think Anupama is right in telling Vanraj to accept the baby though Kavya has cheated on Vanraj?
In a simple way we are trying to come out of the daily serial box. Shows depict in a particular way they show drama where you have to abort and what not. It's a very realistic zone and Vanraj had also made mistakes and I think that's like Karma coming back if you see from Vanraj's point of view and Kavya is also left alone and when someone you know for so many years comes to take care of you, one would melt.
When it comes to Anupama she is thinking that when the child hasn't been born then why should it suffer as she is supporting Romil who is also a child out of infidelity. Mistakes can be sorted out. We are trying to show it's not grey and we need to let things go.
As an actor are you a spontaneous or a method actor?
I think I am a mixture of both. Its like if I have time I would take my time and fall into emotions and I am working with a production where they give us heads up on what we want and how we want to do it, but you are doing a daily soap where episodes are telecasted seven days a week so you need to be spontaneous and this show has taught me to be a spontaneous actor. I have trained myself where I can act on the spot if you give me a scene and within 10 mins I can perform.
Well, there is no doubt that Sagar as Samar is loved by the audience and no one can do justice like he does.
