MUMBAI: Movie Apurva that has Tara Sutaria in the leading role has been grabbing the attention of the fans and audience ever since the trailer was out. The movie which also has Abhishek Banerjee, Rajpal Naurang Yadav, Dhairya Karwa and Aashish Dubey along with the actress is directed by Nikhil Bhatt.
From the trailer, we have come to know that this movie is a survival thriller. Today, finally the movie has hit the digital platform Disney Plus Hotstar and here is the complete review of the movie.
As the glimpses were shown in trailer itself, the movie deals with the central character Apurva, who is travelling from Delhi to Agra to surprise her fiancé. Unexpectedly and unfortunately, she gets kidnapped and trapped by 4 goons. Now, getting rescued from them is the only intention and agenda of Apurva. How she tries to escape, will she be able to survive and what challenges she goes through is something shown in the movie.
The screenplay is strictly average and there are few points which will get you hooked. But there are few scenes where you will get bored. The direction given by Nikhil Bhatt is strictly average.
Talking about the performance, it is no doubt an out and out Tara Sutaria show. Indeed, you get to see the actress in a never seen before avatar. The actress has managed to grabbed attention with her never seen before look and acting as Apurva. On the other hand, the actor which definitely surprise you is Rajpal Yadav. The actor is playing a negative role after a long time. Abhishek Banerjee has few major scenes and the actor has surprised once again. Actor Aashish Dubey was decent on his part. Unfortunately, actor Dhairya Karwa had very less to offer, but he was decent on his part.
Talking about the positive point of the movie, it has to be the premise which is very intense and gripping. Also, Tara Sutaria can be the plus point of the movie as we see in a never seen before avatar. The BGM is very gripping and definitely it holds your attention in intense scenes and adds value to the movie viewing experience. On the other hand, the performances coming from the side of actors Rajpal Yadav and Abhishek Banerjee are a treat to watch and definitely are the highpoints of the movie.

Talking about the negative point of the movie. It has to be the screenplay which is very weak and dull at many moments. When you are making a survival thriller especially like Apurva, your screenplay should be gripping and tight, but here it is missing. The direction coming from the side of director Nikhil Bhatt is strictly average. Also, the hide and seek game between the villains and the actress looks a little stretched and it should have been crisp and short. The dialogues of the movie are very weak. There are no such one liners or dialogue which will get stuck in your heads. There are many elements which are lacking if you are making a woman centric survival thriller. The end of the movie is very abrupt and looks like it is incomplete. There were many opportunities to show the premise of a survival thriller but the movie revolves around only one location, which is the minus point.
Well, having said all these points definitely Apurva is only one time watch only if you are Tara Sutaria fan and looking forward to see some great performances otherwise the survival thriller does not have anything new to offer.
