When stars spoke like parents

Press conferences are often full of clichés. A hundred shows with the same subject keep cropping up that it often leads to clichéd questions and equally clichéd answers. However, the press conference to announce Contiloe Films' upcoming reality show Aajaa Mahi Vay (Star Plus) drew a different response from both the media and the judges. The three jury members Ronit Roy, Shweta Tiwari and Apara Mehta found themselves in a quandary where they couldn't help but talk on their personal experiences. Aajaa Mahi Vay is a show wherein eleven couples will dance so as to win the coveted prize i.e. a dream wedding. Some of the couples have kept their relationship under wraps from their respective families. So, when they appear on the small screen, their family is likely to be shell shocked. The judges were asked if ever their children did something like this then how would they react. A bewildered Ronit replied, "Obviously, my first reaction would that be of utmost shock. But beyond shock there would be formulation of different emotions. I have an 18-year-old daughter and if such a situation was to arise then I'll be left to ask myself whether I've been able to know my daughter really well. More than anything else, I need to ascertain what's in the best interest of my child." Apara Mehta didn't hesitate in saying, "No one would be able to understand this better than me. I married against the wishes of my parents and today I realise what a blunder I committed. I have a daughter too and if she were to do the same then I too would say that I haven't been able to understand my daughter. Parents should foster a friendly relationship with their children. Once they succeed in doing this, their children would never hide anything from them. Fortunately, I can confidently say that I've been like a friend to my daughter and I'm confident she would never conceal anything from me."
