Sidharth Malhotra on playing different roles and his process of playing those characters

The roles I have played earlier have action and patriotism but they are different characters with different worlds. I personally like movies which are inspired or based on characters that you have seen in real life. We have seen police officers, army officers and also know how every country has a spy agency. Possibly because I read a lot about geo-politics I get intrigued towards these scripts. I also feel they really look very cool on the big screen. The action you can do with such stories where the stakes are so high, all these characters have done something so remarkable in that story and that’s what I enjoy – true heroics with actual uniforms where you can pull it off with swag and entertainment. I love that.

Sidharth Malhotra on doing a romantic movie once again

That’s actually up to the directors. We are happy with the love we got for Shershah, even though the love story was a very short part of that film but I think the real life love story of Captain Vikram Batra and Dimple also resonates through really well. Yes, we would love to do a full-fledged love story, It’s up to us finding the right content and right script.

Sidharth Malhotra on aspects of Indian cops that he found intriguing

This is my first time daunting a police uniform, it’s very ‘today’ and the kind of homework that Rohit sir does and comes as to how their hierarchy works, how their information network works, I was very intrigued by it. We have tried to be as authentic as possible in this series and my character is a slightly more aggressive character, very polished IPS. I like the way he (the character) interacts with people on the roads. What I found intriguing was the level of characters they have to play within the police force. When they are on the street they have to be upfront, aggressive and possibly say their language. When they are dealing among themselves within offices with their seniors they have a different tonality and are far more ‘Official’ in that sense. They get to see from the crème to the down low of the society. What they get to experience, no one else does because they are interacting with all walks of life, the good and the bad.
