MUMBAI: The patriotic movie Ae Watan Mere Watan is directed by Karan Johar and has been making headlines for a long time for its historic subject. Sara Ali Khan plays the lead role in the movie, and the story is based on an underground radio station run by a brave young woman who, in 1942, altered the course of India's freedom movement. Sara Ali Khan's character draws inspiration from Usha Mehta, a freedom fighter.
The movie is going to have an OTT release and will be made available to stream on Amazon Prime from March 21. The movie is written and directed by the renowned Notebook author Darab Farooqui and Kannan Iyer of Ek Thi Dayan fame.
In addition to Sara Ali Khan, the movie also features Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Alexx O' Neil, Sparsh Shrivastav, and Anand Tiwari. Emraan Hashmi will also make a cameo appearance in the movie. Ae Watan Mere Watan is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra.
While we got to watch the poster and teaser of the movie earlier, now the makers have released the trailer of the movie, which will take you through a rollercoaster of emotions and plummet feelings of patriotism toward your country. Take a look at the trailer below:
In the trailer we can see a rebellious patriot Usha Mehta, played by Sara Ali Khan, who has taken a strong-headed decision of fighting against the Britishers with the help of a radio that is kept hidden from the people.
As Usha’s voice reaches out to all the Indians, it gives them the strength required to fight back while it also makes the Britishers angry as they see the effect of their fear wearing off.
In the movie we can expect Sara Ali Khan’s performance to stand out from all the performances she has given till now. It’ll also be interesting to see what role Emraan Hashmi will play in the film.
