In every job that must be done
There is an element of fun
You find the fun and snap
The job’s a game…
Thus goes the Mary Poppins’ song A Spoonful of Sugar. Surely, Urvashi Upadhyay, who plays Bharti in Sony Entertainment Television’s Dil Ki Nazar Se Khoobsuratmust have identified the fun element in her work. When most other TV stars are complaining about the long and arduous hours of work, she recently updated her status on WhatsApp Messenger, as, “If you rest you rust.”
We called up the workaholic actress to discover that indeed she finds work fun. She informed us, “I have always liked to work. I have been in theatre for 18 years and in the TV industry for nine years. I simply love to keep myself busy.”
Whereas TV actors who work 24/ 7 are yearning for an elusive holiday for a day or two, Urvashi avers that she gets highly bored if there is even a day’s holiday in between. “I have been into many things simultaneously in the past- I have done my B.A, M.A and PhD in English Literature. I have had special interest in studying about Shakespeare. I know Bharatnatyam. I have dabbled in painting. At one point of time, I did all these activities along with theatre and also went on world tours to perform in dance dramas.”
Though eight hours of sleep is generally recommended in a day, the actress says that she gets a head ache if she sleeps for more than five hours daily. She adds that she works for about 14 hours in a day.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Does she not feel that rest is important too? She replies, “Of course rest is important. Even machines get over-heated and stop working if they work continuously. Nevertheless, I simply love to work. I even refuse to rest when I am advised to lie down for a while.”
Our compliments to this hard working actress. We wish her all the best in her endeavours.
