MUMBAI : Rani Mukerji is one of the finest actresses that the Hindi movie industry has. The actress has dedicated 28 years to the acting industry by starting off with her debut movie Biyer Phool. It was a Bengali movie of 1996 which was directed by her father Ram Mukherjee. Later that year, she acquired a lead role in the Hindi movie Raja Ki Aayegi Baaraat where she played the role of rape victim. This marked her Hindi movie debut and the audience immediately fell in love with her talent and beauty.

Rani Mukerji really left the audience awestruck with this role and left a strong mark. The movie is now available to stream on Netflix.

Laaga Chunari Mein Daag

Starring Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan and Konkona Sen, this Pradeep Sarkar directorial movie picked up a dark topic that is talked about even now. The story is about Vibhavari who comes to Mumbai from Varanasi in order to support her financially challenged family but in her attempts to earn money, she ends up becoming a high-profile escort. Meanwhile, she tries to hide her job from her sister. The movie was released in 2007 and is available to stream on Amazon Prime. The character Rani Mukerji played in the movie is still one of the best played ones.

Dil Bole Hadippa!

Directed by Anurag Singh, this movie starred Shahid Kapoor and Rani Mukerji. In the movie, Veera Kaur (played by Rani Mukerji) is shown to be passionate towards Cricket and as she looks for an opportunity to play for her country, she finds a unique way – by hiding her identity and taking the get-up of a man. Things take an interesting turn when it is introduced that her coach is Rohan Singh (played by Rani Mukerji). Rani Mukerji’s version of turning into a Punjabi boy with turban and beard is one of the best characters as it also entertains a lot. The movie was released in 2009 and is available to stream on Amazon Prime.

Aiyyaa

Directed by Sachin Kundalkar, this movie completely changed the perception of the audience where instead of a boy desiring a girl and having imaginations, it is the other way round where Meenakshi meets Surya and falls for him immediately and even after being engaged to Madhav, she wants to marry Surya. With the topic of the movie being so unique, the role that Rani Mukerji plays is also very unique. The movie was released in 2012 and is available to stream on Netflix.

Hichki

Rani Mukerji hit the ball out of the park with this one. Directed by Siddharth Malhotra, this movie stars Rani Mukerji as a woman with Tourette syndrome lands a teaching job where she turns her biggest weakness into her biggest strength and trains her students to do their best in exams and also compete well in the real world. The movie was released in 2018 and is available to stream on Amazon Prime. The actress was highly praised for her character in this movie.

Mardaani (Part 1 and 2)

Talking about Mardaani 1, it was directed by Pradeep Sarkar and starred Rani Mukerji along with Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jisshu Sengupta and Avneet Kaur. The 2014 movie shows how police officer Shivani works hard to uncover a Delhi-based child trafficking cartel. While the movie received a lot of praise, even Rani Mukerji’s character of Officer Shivani was highly appreciated, resulting in a sequel to the movie which was directed Gopi Puthran and starred Rani Mukerji along with Anchal Sahu, Vishal Jethwa, Avneet Kaur and Virti Vaghani. Mardaani 2 released in 2019 and was successful, thanks to the performances and the story. Mardaani 2 is based on officer Shivani who gets on the mission to catch a psychopath who is on the loose while brutally raping and killing innocent women. Mardaani 1 and 2 are available to stream on Amazon Prime.

Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway

Starring Rani Mukerji, Jim Sarbh, Anirban Bhattacharya, and Neena Gupta, this Ashima Chibber directorial movie is one of the most hard-hitting stories ever told in the history of the Indian movie industry. The movie talks about Debika (played by Rani Mukerji) trying to save her children after the Norwegian government takes them away from her. In the movie, Rani Mukerji is shown struggling and going to any length to save her kids. The movie was released in 2023 and is available to stream on Netflix. Rani Mukerji gave a mindblowing performance in the movie.
