MUMBAI: Surya and Jyotika, the popular duo in Tamil cinema, debuted together in the 1999 film Poovellam Kettupar. The couple developed a strong friendship over time and eventually fell in love. They got married in 2006 and became parents to Diya in 2007 and Dev in 2010.

They collaborated in hit films including Perazhagan, Mayavi, Kakka Kakka and Chillunu Oru Kadhal. Both are active on social media and often engage with their fans. Recently, Jyotika’s response to a fan’s request has gone viral on the Internet.
When a female fan asked Jyotika if she could spend a day with Suriya, her favourite actor, Jyotika quickly replied, saying, Oops, not allowed. This response showed Jyotika’s immense love for her husband.
Jyotika and Suriya, who starred in multiple films together, fell in love on-screen and later got married in 2006. A year ago, they moved to Mumbai for their children’s education.
During a film shoot in 2001, Jyotika met Suriya. It was during shooting Kaakha Kaakha, that Suriya and Jyotika developed feelings for each other. After the film’s release, rumours swirled about their engagement. Reportedly, Suriya proposed to Jyotika in a discreet event to get some time to convince his parents about their relationship.
On the work front, Jyotika is best known for films including Kushi, Raatchasi, 36 Vayadhinile, and Chandramukhi. The actress recently appeared in Ajay Devgn’s Shaitaan. The film set a new benchmark for Hindi cinema in supernatural thrillers. Now, she has films including The Animators and Sri in the pipeline.
Jyotika made her acting comeback with the film 36 Vayadhinile. She has appeared in several impactful stories, not only in Tamil but also in Malayalam and Hindi. Her Malayalam movie Kathal Di Kaur alongside Mammootty was well-received.

Meanwhile, Suriya last appeared in a guest appearance in Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. He is best known for films like 24, Jai Bhim, Soorarai Pottru, and 7aum Arivu. Now, he is going to star in a slew of upcoming films including Karna, Rolex, Kanguva, Irumbu Kai Maayavi, and Vaadivaasal to name a few.
