MUMBAI: The BCCI has temporarily suspended the IPL 2025 season for a week due to escalating border tensions between India and Pakistan following India's 'Operation Sindoor.' Amid this development, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), led by MS Dhoni, have been knocked out of the playoff race, managing just three wins in their 12 matches so far.

Adding to their woes, CSK will be without the services of South African batter Dewald Brevis when the tournament resumes. Brevis, who joined the team as a replacement for injured pacer Gurjapneet Singh for ₹2.2 crore, confirmed his departure with a heartfelt message on social media. "A big thank you to my Chennai team, coaches, support staff, and our amazing Chennai fans. The atmosphere at the Chepauk Stadium was electrifying. Thank you for the support all around India. The time I spent in India will always be close to my heart, and the memories with Chennai will last a lifetime. See you soon… #Cricket #Yellove #IPL," he posted on X.
During his short stint, Brevis made a strong impression, scoring 126 runs in four matches at an impressive strike rate of 163. His standout performance came in CSK’s recent clash against KKR at Eden Gardens, where he smashed a blistering 50 off just 22 balls, including a remarkable 30-run over against Vaibhav Arora.
