He added the arrested man was suspected of receiving orders from Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of the gangster Lawrence Bishnoi who was imprisoned.

Notably, hours after the incident, a Facebook post claiming responsibility for the firing surfaced. It is claimed that Anmol Bishnoi uploaded the post. Police had stated on Tuesday that the investigation suggested the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was involved in hiring the two people who were detained.

Sagar Pal and Vicky Gupta, arrested for allegedly firing at Khan’s residence in Bandra area here on Sunday, were providing the detained suspect detailed information about their movements, and the calls were made using the Internet, the official said.

After the crime, Pal and Gupta left Mumbai and headed for Bhuj, the official said, adding that near Surat, they changed the SIM card of the mobile phone they were using to communicate. To throw police off their trail, they switched off their mobile phone frequently. But the number they called was always the same, police noted during technical surveillance.

The officer stated that the suspect was soon tracked and captured in Haryana. He was then taken to Mumbai and questioned, although he had not yet been taken into custody in connection with the crime.

Pal and Gupta were allegedly promised more money after the shoot and handed about Rs 1 lakh for shooting at Khan's house, according to earlier claims made by the police.
