MUMBAI: Rishi Kapoor was one of the legendary actors of the Indian film industry. His films like Prem Rog, Amar Akbar Anthony, Sagar, and so many others are still remembered today. His debut film Bobby first brought him into the limelight which was a huge success. His pairing with a young Dimple Kapadia is still remembered today.
Rishi Kapoor’s daughter Riddhima and her husband Bharat Sahni shared their emotional last moments with him saying that even when he was ill and receiving treatment for cancer, all he could think of was his movies, if people who still cast him in their films and if he would finish a project once he started it.
While shooting for his last film Sharmaji Namkeen, Rishi did not take his family’s advice of taking it easy but was shooting all over Delhi and enjoying delicious street food.
Revealing how after his 2018 treatment, his cancer came back quickly and aggressively saying, “We did spend Diwali together, we went out. He was very excited,” she added, “He was so happy, attended all the Diwali parties, we spent Diwali together and next thing, in a few months, he is back in the hospital.”
Riddhima emotionally revealed that she missed his last call to her and regretted not taking that call as soon after that he could not speak. She revealed, “He tried to call me two days before this happened. He gave me a missed call, I still have it on my phone. That was his last missed call to me and I thought… I wish I had taken that. After that, he couldn’t really respond or talk because he was in the hospital and I still have that missed call saved. I took a screenshot and I saved it. Because that was the last time he called me to actually talk to me. I called him after that but he couldn’t speak.”
