From the time the movie was announced, the audience was excited to watch this one on the big screens as they had not seen Tiger Shroff and Akshay Kumar teaming up any time before. On the other hand, we have Maidaan starring Ajay Devgn, Priya Mani and Gajraj Rao. The movie is directed by Amit Sharma. Maidaan is not just a movie but a tribute to Syed Abdul Rahim who was an Indian football coach and manager of the India national team from 1950 until his death in 1963, and a former player. He is regarded as the architect of modern Indian football and his era is known as the golden era of Indian football history.
Both Maidaan and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan were supposed to be released on 10th April, the release dates got postponed and eventually they both released on 11th April. It seems the clash was inevitable. BMCM got a far better opening than Maidaan as the audience was more excited to watch the action comedy starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff.
Now while the audience has been praising both the movies, we are here with the business aspect of the movies.
When talking about the opening day collection of BMCM, it collected Rs 36.33 Cr worldwide. On the other hand, Maidaan collected Rs 15 Cr worldwide. Maidaan also held paid previews on 10th April.
It’s been 15 days now since both the movies released and on day 15, BMCM collected Rs 0.8 Cr while Maidaan collected 0.75 Cr. When talking about the worldwide collections, BMCM collected around Rs 99.75 Cr while Maidaan collected around Rs 51.2 Cr.
BMCM was running ahead of Maidaan on daily collection basis and on worldwide collection basis as well. The pattern was BMCM was stable progress while the pattern of Maidaan collections was dropping on Mondays and rising up through the week till Sunday.
While on day 11 we saw the game change with Maidaan taking the lead on daily collections, day 12 got the game on repeat as BMCM moved slightly ahead. Now this week starting from Monday, the collections for BMCM seemed to be very stable while Maidaan collections made slight difference in its pattern. The new releases made difference to the collection but not in a major way. However, now we have Ruslaan releasing today which is an actionpacked movie and this might easily impact the collections given that weekend is arriving.
