General Hospital star Johnny Wactor was shot dead in LA in an attempted theft

MUMBAI: According to multiple worldwide sources, Hollywood actor Johnny Wactor was reportedly on Saturday, May 25, in Los Angeles. The actor was most recognized for his work on General Hospital, is said to have died in an attempted robbery.

Johnny's mother Scarlett told TMZ that after thieves attempted to take the catalytic converter from his car on Saturday around three in the morning PT, Johnny was attacked and died. According to his mother, the actor did not try to fight the robbers, but "the men shot him anyway before taking off."

After being taken to the hospital, the actor was declared dead. As of the time of reporting, no suspects had been taken into custody. The actor's death was confirmed by David Shaul, Johnny's agent. In an interview with the popular news portal Magazine, David recalled Johnny as a “spectacular human being.”

He said, “Not just a talented actor who was committed to his craft but a real moral example to everyone who knew him. Standing for hard work, tenacity and a never-give-up attitude. In the highs and lows of a challenging profession, he always kept his chin up and kept striving for the best he could be.”

“Our time with Johnny was a privilege we would wish on everyone. He would literally give you the shirt off his back. After over a decade together, he will leave a hole in our hearts forever,” he added.

Johnny was known for his role as Brando Corbin in General Hospital. Appearing in over 200 episodes, Johnny was seen playing the husband of drug addict Sasha Corbin in the series. His character was written off in 2022. After the news of his death made the headlines, his co-star Sofia Mattsson paid an emotional tribute to him. Taking to Instagram, she shared a few photos with him and confessed she was heartbroken with the turn of events.

“My heart is so utterly broken… Johnny was the absolute best. So genuine. So caring. Incredibly hard working and humble. With a huge heart that spread so much kindness and joy. He always made sure everyone around him felt seen, heard and loved. I admire the man he was so much and I’m a better person for having known him. We shared so many special moments, both on and off screen, and I will forever cherish them deeply in my heart. You will be so incredibly missed Johnny… I’m sure you’re already busy taking care of everyone up there,” she wrote.

In addition to General Hospital, Johnny starred in several television shows, including Training Day, Criminal Minds, NCIS, The OA, Westworld, The Passenger, Station 19, Barbee Rehab, Siberia, Agent X, Vantastic, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Girl. In 2007, he made his acting debut in Army Wives.

Fans are devastated to hear about his unexpected death. Many people sent condolences via X.
