MUMBAI: The highly anticipated magnum opus of the year, Kalki 2898 AD, is just days away from its release. Building on the mounting excitement, the film held a grand event in Mumbai on June 19th, truly living up to the immense buzz surrounding it.
This star-studded event featured a Pan-India cast, including legends and luminaries such as Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone. Producers C. Aswani Dutt, Swapna Dutt, and Priyanka Dutt were also in attendance.
A standout moment of the evening occurred when Amitabh Bachchan purchased the inaugural ticket to the film and graciously presented it to his co-star Kamal Haasan. Inviting Kamal Haasan onto the stage, Amitabh Bachchan remarked, “I will give it to my colleague, my dear friend, my brother Kamal Haasan.”
In response, Kamal Haasan fondly recalled waiting three weeks to watch the iconic film Sholay. He humorously lamented that such a gesture should have happened decades ago during Sholay’s release. "I wish this had happened 3-4 decades ago and he had given me the first-day first-show ticket of Sholay. I had to wait for three weeks to see that film. I hope there are many more fans who’d wait for many weeks to see this film like I did for Sholay. I never thought I would be here receiving the first day, first show ticket from Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. I was a film technician then, and now I am an actor. Nothing has changed,” shared Kamal Haasan, reflecting on his journey in the industry.
Directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, Kalki 2898 AD is set to release theatrically on June 27, 2024
