From experimenting with genres to taking on different roles - Here's why Akshay Kumar is the man of many firsts

Akshay Kumar

MUMBAI: Akshay Kumar is a celebrated actor in Bollywood. But maintaining that streak for him has not been very easy. With a career spanning over decades, Akshay Kumar has put in lots of effort to stay relevant, hard work and perseverance have been the key for him. But what also made him rule the roost over so many years, has been his experimental stance. Being the man of many firsts Akshay has been an actor who delved into territories that many mainstream actors wouldn't.

One very strong example of this is Akshay's 2020 film Laxmii where Kumar played a transgender. That was surely a first amongst the leading actors in B-town. And this is not it, venturing into the action space, and upping the scale there has been credited to Akshay. Yes! There is a reason why he is called Khiladi Kumar.

Another such first has been bringing social cause films into mainstream cinema. Be it a Padman, a Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, or even an OMG, Akshay in recent years has been packing a solid message with the stories he is associated with.

Not just this, another reason why it's kudos to him for being first is telling stories based on real-life personalities or incidents, remember, Rustom, BellBottom, Mission Mangal?

Now, another first for the actor is his debut in Telugu Cinema with Kannappa. To bridge the gap between South and Bollywood and in a way ditch the Tamil cinema supremacy, Akshay is venturing into a space that many mainstream actors have not explored.

Contributing to good cinema has been a constant aim for Akshay, and as his efforts continue, he makes a remarkable change one at a time!

Akshay Kumar Unveils His Boldest Role Yet in the Sarfira trailer,  A Tale of Ambition and Entrepreneurial Determination, in cinemas on July 12th.
