MUMBAI: August 1st is World Lung Cancer Day recognized globally each year. Over 1.5 million individuals worldwide are affected by lung cancer each year, making it one of the most prevalent types of the disease. Despite the fact that smoking is the primary cause of lung cancer, many patients do not smoke. Genetics, secondhand smoke, and air pollution all have an impact on them.

The first World Lung Cancer Day was celebrated in 2012. This day was created to increase awareness of lung cancer by the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) and the Forum of International Respiratory Societies (FIRS). Lung cancer comes in seven varieties, some of which are more dangerous than others.
Sanjay Dutt
Much loved actor Sanjay Dutt was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2020. Given the kind of tribulations he has faced in his life, Sanjay Dutt faced it like a champ. He sought treatment in India and abroad. In an interview with India Today, he revealed that he told himself it was impossible that he had cancer. He underwent chemotherapy for his lung cancer, which was quite aggressive.
Feroz Khan
Feroz Khan, one of the most attractive men in Indian film, passed away from lung cancer in 2009. When the actor-director was producing Welcome 2, he was given the diagnosis. The filmmaker Anees Bazmee made this revelation. It appears that Khan was aware of his limited chances of life and that his condition was terminal. Bollywood still has some of the most fashionable actors, including the late Feroz Khan.
Yuvraj Singh
Former vice captain of the Indian national cricket team Yuvraj Singh was diagnosed with lung cancer following his country's victory in the 2011 World Cup. His left lung was the site of the tumor, which was determined to be mediastinal seminoma lung cancer. It was an uncommon kind of lung cancer. In the United States, he received three rounds of chemotherapy in Boston and Indianapolis. The entire country prayed for his health and well-being. Yuvraj Singh, a cancer survivor, wrote a book called The Test of My Life: From Cricket to Cancer and Back about his road to recovery.
Jishnu Raghavan
The Malayalam actor passed away in 2016 at the age of 35 from lung and throat cancer. After receiving his initial treatment, Jishnu Raghavan had entered remission. However, when it came again, it proved to be lethal for him. Jishnu noted in his last days that complementary medicines are not very helpful in curing cancer.
Paul Newman
Lung disease claimed the life of American actor Paul Newman in 2008. He was nominated for eight Oscars and won one. He was eighty-three. Among his well-known motion pictures are Road To Perdition (2002), The Hustler (1961), The Verdict (1982), The Color of Money (1986), and Cat in a Hot Tin Roof (1958). On the list of the 50 Hottest Men of All Time, he was listed.

Walt Disney
With his enduring cartoon characters, television programs, motion pictures, Disneyland theme parks, and toys, the Disney pioneer offered the world a lot to grin about. Walt Disney passed away from a heart attack in December 1966 after having surgery to remove lung cancer. This occurred ten days following his December 5 birthday.
