Why are villains in Hindi movies not feared anymore? Take a look at how times have changed

With the changing landscape of Hindi cinema, we need to understand that there are changes which are affected by various factors and sometimes, it is those changes that further affect the audience.

MUMBAI : Hindi cinema has gone through phases and the fans have observed a lot of changes, be it in movies, music, actors or directors or anything that really affects the nature of cinema. Time and again, it has proven that there’s always more to entertain the audience with. Even a teenage drama from the 90s would be really different from the teenage drama of the current age and that’s just how time works.

With the changing landscape of Hindi cinema, we need to understand that there are changes which are affected by various factors and sometimes, it is those changes that further affect the audience. Hindi cinema is known for amazing movies and in the 70s, 80s and 90s, we got to see countless movies wherein the negative leads were feared or hated by the majority of the audience and even if not, the characters were definitely not looked up to in an inspiring way.

If you remember well, we have all seen actors like Pran, Amrish Puri, Danny Denzongpa and many more. These actors played negative leads in many famous movies, giving the main characters a tough time but the villains were always feared. However, things are different now as the negative leads are many times being more appreciated or looked up to by the audience. The villains are not feared but loved for their looks and fashion. The villains were pure evil by intentions in earlier times but now, they are loved for being psycho.

Keep this in mind, in the earlier times, the negative characters played by actors made such an impression that sometimes the actors were feared even in real life and at the same time, they were respected for their roles. However, playing a negative shade has become a trend now while being a hero earlier was a struggle.
