Anushka Sharma clarifies her career priorities about not working after marriage and kids even before meeting Virat Kohli

MUMBAI: Following her marriage to Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, with whom she has been married for more than six years and has two children, Vamika and Akaay, Anushka Sharma continued her acting career with roles in films such as Pari, Sanju, Sui Dhaaga, and Zero. She did once declare that she intended to start a family and take a leave of absence from work following marriage.

Anushka Sharma discussed her thoughts on marriage and career in an interview with Simi Garewal on India's Most Desirable in 2012. She stated that once she found the perfect partner, she would rather prioritize her family over her job. Since then, her perspective on this matter has changed considerably.

In the clip, Simi Garewal inquires about the significance of marriage to Anushka Sharma. The actress responds, “Very important. I want to be married. I want to have kids. And, when I am married, I probably don’t want to be working.”

Anushka Sharma met cricketer Virat Kohli during an ad shoot, and their connection quickly blossomed into love. They married in a stunning ceremony at Lake Como, Italy, in December 2017. The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Vamika, on January 11, 2021, and their second, a son named Akaay, on February 15, 2024.

Anushka and Virat are a picture-perfect pair who are never afraid to show off their love for each other in public. Anushka regularly supports her husband at cricket matches by going, and the two are also seen going on dates and spending time with their kids. Their close-knit and loving connection is highlighted by their family life and deep closeness.

Anushka Sharma last appeared on screen in Anand L. Rai's 2018 movie Zero, co-starring with Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. She has continued to work in the industry ever since, for Bulbbul and Paatal Lok.

Her next role will be in the biopic Chakda Xpress, which is directed by Prosit Roy and Abhishek Banerjee written film about cricket player Jhulan Goswami. The date of the movie's release is still pending.
