Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar hinted at the possibility of a sequel to the Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut film in a recent interview. He stated that if he were to film Fashion 2, he would discuss how celebrities and social media influencers have taken center stage as showstoppers, making supermodels less important in today's world.

MUMBAI : Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar seems to be making Fashion 2 soon. He hinted at the possibility of a sequel to the Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut film in a recent interview. He stated that if he were to film Fashion 2, he would discuss how celebrities and social media influencers have taken center stage as showstoppers, making supermodels less important in today's world.

“I feel Fashion has all the potential for a sequel. Today, the world of fashion has changed. As a filmmaker, I feel I have a lot of material and hence, it can be turned into a show, spanning a couple of seasons. But it also is apt for a film. Hence, nothing has been decided yet. The subject, however, is interesting. Social media has completely taken over. There was a time when we used to hear of supermodels. But in the last few years, can you recall the name of any supermodel? Bollywood celebs have taken over and have become showstoppers,” Madhur told the popular news portal.

“This is what I want to ask through Fashion 2 – where have these supermodels disappeared? A girl sitting in some small town can be a model or an influencer. I want to focus on these aspects,” the filmmaker added.

Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut, Mugdha Godse, Arjan Bajwa, Arbaaz Khan, and Samir Soni were among the prominent cast members of the 2008 film Fashion. The main character of the movie is Meghna Mathur (Priyanka), a girl from a rural village who aspires to be a glamorous supermodel. However, when she steps into the entertainment industry, she finds out about its dark past and realizes that it's not an easy place to succeed.

The crowd was overwhelmingly fond of fashion. For this film, Priyanka Chopra even took home the National Film Award for Best Female Actor. In contrast, Kangana won in the category of Best Supporting Actor (Female).
