MUMBAI : The primary actress and director of Emergency, Kangana Ranaut, is receiving a lot of hate mail and threats, especially from Sikh people. The movie, which shows Indira Gandhi as the former prime minister of India during the Emergency of 1975, has come under fire for allegedly painting Sikhs in a bad light. The president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Harjinder Singh Dhami, has openly called for the film's prohibition on the grounds that it perpetuates negative stereotypes and misrepresents Sikhs.
Dhami's criticism is in response to persistent worries over Ranaut's previous statements, which have been seen as anti-Punjab and anti-Sikh. The criticism of her most recent endeavor, Emergency, has only become stronger as a result of these accusations.
Things got out of hand when Punjabi influencer Viky Thomas Singh said in a video, “Agar hum sar katwa sakte hai toh sar kaat bhi sakte hai” raising a lot of concerns.
